“Because She Rose” Campaign
Honor a single mother in your life
A tribute to the strength, love, and resilience of single mothers.
At Rising Violet, we believe in the extraordinary power of single mothers — women who rise each day with courage, determination, and love.
Through Because She Rose, you can honor a mother who has inspired you with a financial tribute gift. Your donation supports Rising Violet’s mission to uplift single mothers through community, resources, and opportunity — while shining a light on their individual stories of strength.
Each honoree will be featured here, with her photo and story, as a lasting testament to her journey and the impact she’s made.
Because she rose, we rise.
Becky
There was a time in my life when every day felt like survival. I was a young mom in my twenties with two little boys. It all depended on me.
I lived in a constant state of stretching, stretching time, stretching money, stretching myself. My dad would slip me cash for groceries and I would go to the grocery store almost every day, trying to figure out what I could afford to make for dinner. I received help from my church in the form of food, and while I was deeply grateful, I was humiliated. My sister and her husband were always a safe place for my kids and me to land and they provided the stability that I wanted so badly to give my boys, but couldn’t due to the circumstances.
I never knew what challenge would come next. Life felt uncertain, overwhelming, and at times, impossibly heavy.
But even in the middle of it all, I realized I had a choice.
I could let the weight of it break me, or I could keep going.
So, I chose to keep going.
I made two commitments to myself. First, I would stay faithful in paying my tithes, even when it didn’t make sense on paper. Second, I would keep fighting every single day. Not perfectly, not without tears or fear, not without a lot of pity parties, but with determination.
I had two little boys watching me. I needed them to see that even when life is hard you don’t give up. You show up. You work hard. You keep moving forward.
It wasn’t easy. In fact, there were many moments when it felt impossible. But somehow, we made it through.
And today, when I look back, I see more than just struggle. I see resilience. I see growth. I see a mother who refused to quit.
If there is one thing I want other mothers to know, it’s this: You are stronger than you think. No matter how heavy your circumstances feel, you are capable of rising above them. You are worthy of taking control of your future. You can do hard things.
I know this because I lived it.
